An alleged member of Yonkers’ GMF street gang is facing a federal drug charge in an ongoing probe by the FBI into gang activity and drug trafficking around the Schlobohm housing complex. Darin Fields, 20, of Mount Vernon, also known as “Ruga,” is charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

He’s due back in federal court in White Plains Jan. 16 for a preliminary hearing. According to an affidavit by FBI Special Agent Karma Smith, Fields is a member of GMF, the Grimy M————-, which is an ally of the Strip Boyz gang and shares their drug turf at the complex. Federal prosecutors say the Strip Boyz use guns and violence to control their territory. Twenty of the gang’s members were indicted in June. The affidavit says Fields ran from Yonkers police about midnight Jan. 17, 2012, at the complex on Schroeder Street and ditched a bag containing “nine twists of an off-white rocky substance,” which later tested positive for cocaine. Agents built a case based in part on interviews with numerous local gang members including two who have previously pleaded guilty to federal gun and drug charges, the affidavit says. Fields appeared in court Dec. 18 and is being held without bond. State charges including robbery and false personation are also pending against Fields, prosecutors said.
